Today I had an appointment with Dr. Moore. He did an ultrasound to find out just how big Miss Shiloh is these days. She is already a whopping 5 and a half pounds! I am only 33 weeks on the calendar but she is measuring over 34 weeks. The word "induce" was mentioned at this visit simply because if she continues growing at this rate she will be roughly a 9.5 pound baby by 40 weeks. Like I mentioned before, Stephen and I were both big ole babies so this news doesn't surprise us. No plans have been made yet as we have another ultrasound in a few weeks. Her growth might have slowed by then and put us back on track again. If she is still ahead, the doc says he would rather induce a week or two early than wait until 40 weeks to find out the hard way that I can't deliver a baby that big and end up in a C section. Her head measured in the 50th percentile and her belly measured in the 90th percentile! I must be doing a good job feeding this chick!
Anyway, I left feeling so good about my work as a mama so far. It reminded me that all this work and aches and pains are for such a wonderful cause. It has also reminded me to stay focused and finish strong. Come on Shiloh...Mama and Dad are so ready to hold you!!!!
